“3lob is an action game mixing platform and puzzles in which you play as a little metamorphosing slime!”
Working conditions

Group project (6 Game designer students + 3 Game programming student)
As Game designers, we created the global Game design as well as 6 levels (+ a hub) for 3lob. I also was in charge of the visual aspect of the game (3D modeling/animation).

This work began in particular conditions: we had to work home because of global lockdown during the 2020 health crisis. As I had already worked from home before this experience, game’s creation went well.
Project

Within 3lob, we wanted to emphasize on versatility and adaptability through the use of 3 different character forms: the sticky, the solid and the bouncing one.

Regarding game’s visual aspect, I wanted to communicate a sense of contrast between the environment and the slime itself: a cute scientific experience in a sinister mad scientist’s laboratory.

During the level design phase, we were looking to make game situations similar to real “mini-puzzles”. That is why we have chosen to use level and gameplay bricks this way (in both the action and the puzzle way).
Design documents

In terms of Game design, we created several documents:
- a One Page Concept Document, summarizing and presenting the game
- a Gameloops Document, presenting gameplay loops (goal/challenge/reward)
- a 3C Document, presenting the camera, the character and the controller
- a Rational Level Design Document, allowing to analyse and balance the different levels
- a Debug Document, allowing to give QA information to programmers
- a Features List, presenting the game's features
